In Favor, Or Not Against
If you choose to apply for a city TLD, you will need to furnish either a letter of support or of non-objection with your application. The following sample letters show such letters.
Letter of Support
A letter of support would be similar to the following, where CITYNAME would be replaced with the name of the city, and APPLICANT would be replaced by the name of the entity applying:

I am writing as the official representative of the City of CITYNAME to convey our support for the application of APPLICANT to secure, create and operate the .CITYNAME top-level domain. It is my understanding that APPLICANT will be submitting an application to ICANN for the creation of the .CITYNAME top-level domain.
CITYNAME fully and exclusively supports the application of APPLICANT in this effort. We believe that the .CITYNAME top-level domain, as conceived and proposed by APPLICANT represents the best interests of our citizens and residents and will be able to provide a viable structure for us as a global city. Furthermore, we understand and assent to APPLICANT accepting the conditions under which .CITYNAME will be made available from ICANN, such as entry into a registry agreement with ICANN requiring compliance with consensus policies and payment of fees.
